Divith Reddy Adulla Wins National Under-15 Chess Title

The 51st National Sub-Junior Under-15 Open Chess Championship has finished in Hyderabad, and the title has stayed at home. CM Divith Reddy Adulla from Telangana is the new national under-15 champion.

The championship was an 11-round Swiss with 90 minutes per player plus 30 seconds per move. Divith finished with 9.5 points. In the final round he beat Badole Shaunak in a long 76-move game that started with the Modern Defense.

FM Madhesh Kumar S from Puducherry also scored 9.5 points and took second place on tiebreak. In the last round he drew with FM Madhvendra Pratap Sharma in a Rossolimo Sicilian.

Niladri Banerjee from West Bengal finished third with 9 points. Madhvendra Pratap Sharma, who was one of the leaders on 3 out of 3 when ChessDaily reported on the start of the event, also scored 9 points and finished fourth.

Divith's result is especially impressive because he started the event as the 35th seed. It shows that a seeding number is only a starting point, and a player in good form can climb all the way to the top.

Eleven rounds is a long event for young players. It takes good stamina and concentration to play well from the first round to the last, and the title race here stayed close right to the end.

National youth championships are important because they help players earn places in international events. They are also a great chance to meet friends from around the country and learn from each other's games.

Congratulations to Divith Reddy Adulla on his national title, and to all the players who took part in Hyderabad.
