Wang Qinxuanyi Wins China Women's Rapid Chess Invitational

WIM Wang Qinxuanyi has won the China Women's Rapid Chess Invitational 2026 in Shenzhen.

The event was a 16-player knockout with a rapid time control of 15 minutes per player plus 10 seconds per move. Each match was played over several games, with blitz tiebreaks and, if needed, an armageddon game to decide a winner.

Wang Qinxuanyi reached the final by beating WIM Wang Chuqiao 2.5-1.5 in the semifinal. In the other semifinal, Jiang Tianyu beat WGM Xiao Yiyi 2.5-1.5, winning the fourth game to go through.

The final was one-sided. Wang Qinxuanyi won all three games against Jiang Tianyu to take the title 3-0.

In the match for third place, Xiao Yiyi also won 3-0, beating Wang Chuqiao.

Knockout events are exciting because every match is a fresh start. A player does not need to be the top seed to win, as long as they can win the match in front of them.

Rapid chess also needs a special set of skills. With less time on the clock, players have to trust their instincts, avoid getting into time trouble and stay calm after a mistake.

For young players, rapid events are a great way to gain experience. You play more games in a day, see more positions, and learn to make good decisions quickly.

Congratulations to Wang Qinxuanyi on winning the title in Shenzhen.
